Geography—Meteorology Major (B.S.)


Special curriculum; major code BS4238

The following interdisciplinary program in the Departments of Geography, Mathematics, and Physics can prepare you for graduate training in meteorology, climatology, or atmospheric physics. The program can be taken with an emphasis in geography, mathematics, or physics. If you choose the geography emphasis, contact the Department of Geography for advising. Work with your advisor to develop a plan to complete both the University General Education requirements and courses within your major. Within the major, be aware of course prerequisites and frequency of course offerings. Students might wish to consider a double major or a minor in math or physics.

Geography B.A. or B.S. Requirements


Complete 55 hours of approved geography courses, including:

At least 30 hours at the 300 level or above. A minimum grade of C- is required for 100- and 200-level geography courses. No more than 5 hours each of 485 or 490/494 can count toward the 55 hours in geography. Hours in 486 do not count toward this total. Work with your advisor to develop a plan to complete the University General Education requirements.

Majors are not permitted to take geography and required courses pass/fail.
