E E 470 - Communication Engineering Unified approach to communications stressing principles common to all transmission systems. Review of Fourier series. Fourier integral and complex frequency techniques with emphasis on communication networks, time response and convolution, measurement of information, amplitude modulation (double and single side-band techniques), frequency modulation, sampling theory, pulse modulation and digital communications systems, fundamentals of random signal theory and its application to communication systems, noise and its effect on conventional modulation systems; noise figure, noise suppression techniques, and other related topics.
