EDCS 4000 - Democracy, Education & Society Examines the historical and philosophical roots of education in the U.S. Engages students in a critical examination of contemporary issues in education and the role of citizens and educators as transformative change agents for the improvement of schools with a commitment to equity and socially just education. Synthesizes educational history, philosophy, sociology, politics, as they address the responsibilities of families, students, educators and the community in educational practices in the United States.
