Introduction to computer modeling and simulation in biological research. Designed to illustrate the power and limitations of computer simulation by having students code (in MATLAB) simulation programs for a number of different biological phenomena. Quantitative models used include models of enzyme kinetics, population biology, population genetics, diffusion models, and compartmental models in physiology. 3 lec, 2 lab. Prerequisites: MATH 163B OR 263B Credit Hours: 4 |
