MATH 443 - Mathematical Modeling and OptimizationInvestigation of differential equation and/or discrete optimization models of physical, social, biological phenomena and large economic systems by qualitative analysis. Optimal criteria incorporated to convert models to optimal control problems. Pontriagin's maximal principle used to find analytic solutions. Numerical solutions to optimal control problems also treated. Discrete optimization includes topics from linear and integer programming, network algorithms and their analysis. Prerequisites: MATH 263D & 340 & (211 OR 410) Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken 4 times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. |
